Enjoy floating down the Upper Yarra River on a river sled in this outdoor, nature based adventure.

This 2-hour journey takes you on a scenic 3 km route down the Upper Yarra River, winding through bends and navigating rapids. Experience a mix of relaxing floats and challenges, with sections requiring active paddling, navigating rapids, and maneuvering around obstacles. The adventure combines fun, relaxation, and a bit of physical effort, calling for strength, agility, and swimming skills. Each participant has their own river craft—one person per sled!

Your journey begins at the Warburton football oval, the starting and finishing point of your adventure. We’ll kick things off with a briefing and demonstration, followed by a shuttle upstream. Then, you’ll have 1 ½ to 2 hours to explore the river at your own pace. River conditions can vary daily, running faster or slower, and our team will ensure you’re well-informed about what to expect.

Our sleds are purpose-built for low-lying river environments. At 2 meters long and made from high-grade PVC rafting material, they are nearly indestructible. Easy to maneuver with active paddling, these sleds are perfectly sized for an average adult and are suitable for kids aged 8 and above. They’ll hold up well in the shallower sections of the river, unlike cheaper river craft options that easily pop and end up as waste in landfills.

The river’s flow can change daily depending on rainfall and other factors. You’ll encounter rocks, branches, and possibly fallen logs that have yet to be cleared by land management authorities. To navigate these obstacles and the rapids, you’ll need to actively paddle and, at times, stand up to pull yourself over rocks and logs. Keep in mind that this is an outdoor activity in a natural river environment— the Upper Yarra River is not a theme park.

If you’re not a confident swimmer or need assistance in moving water, we strongly recommend speaking to us about hiring a river guide or booking our guided river sledding adventure.
